The Teacher Moves tools are run by Expat Teacher’s Lounge. This page covers the Teacher Moves app and the tools inside it: the CV & Interview Studio, the International Teaching Navigator, Decide Where To Go and the J-1 Teacher Guide.
What stays on your device
Everything you type or choose is saved in your browser on this device: your CV, interview answers, checklists, rankings and plans. We can’t see this information. It isn’t backed up, and it’s removed if you clear your browser data or uninstall the app. You can export or delete your Studio data at any time in the Studio’s Settings.
What is sent, and when
- Premium codes. When you enter a Premium code, it is sent to our server to check it’s valid. We don’t store it with anything that identifies you.
- Premium sign-in. If you sign in with your email, it is checked against our list of Premium members and we send you a sign-in email through our email provider, Resend. Your browser keeps a sign-in pass so you stay signed in on that device. We only use your email to sign you in.
- AI features. Only after you turn AI features on, and only when you press an AI button, the text for that request (for example a CV section, a job description or an interview answer) is sent through our server to Anthropic’s Claude to generate suggestions.
- Interviewer voice. In voice practice, the interviewer’s words (not yours) are sent to ElevenLabs to turn them into speech.
- Your microphone. Voice practice only uses your microphone while you’re answering. Your speech is turned into text by your browser’s or phone’s built-in speech recognition, which may process it on servers run by that company (for example Google or Apple). We don’t record or store your audio.
- Your camera. If you turn on camera self-view in voice practice, your video is recorded only in your browser so you can watch it back. It is never uploaded or sent to anyone, and it is deleted when you leave the page unless you choose to download it.
